Fire District Post Goes To Marcoux
Edward Marcoux of Averill Park was elected to a five year term as fire commissioner in the Averill Park Sand Lake Volunteer Fire Co at an election held at the firehouse Tuesday. One hundred and three property owners in the district voted to fill the post formerly held by Benjamin Gauch who did not run. Richard Seuffert was reelected to the three year post of secretary to the Board of Commissioners, unopposed. The regular meeting heard Chief Arthur Ferguson report several incidents in November and December including car fires and a power fire, with emphasis on safety while driving to alarms. An outside drill is set for December 19. Plans for dedication ceremonies of the new firehouse on Eastern Union Turnpike were discussed, with spring as tentative timing. The district Christmas party for children up to 12 is December 23 at Averill Park High School, requiring registration due to Santa’s mailbox theft last year.
