20 County Farmers Seek Loans in FHA Emergency Aid
About 20 Rensselaer County farmers have applied for emergency loans under the Farm Service Administration program. The county is among 37 New York counties eligible due to drought and late frost losses. Loans are repaid at a low rate after FHA review through the county agricultural office. A disaster feed corn program will start around Oct 1, allowing farmers to pay 75 percent of price support and buy feed corn 24 percent below market. Other designated counties include Albany, Columbia, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington.
