Clermont County Genealogical Society Meets at Public Library
The Clermont County Genealogical Society will hold an open meeting Friday night June 2 at Clermont County Public Library Batavia. Doors open 7 pm, business meeting 8 pm, with genealogy work and informal discussions, help for beginners, and access to historical records and surname files. Membership costs 3 dollars for individuals and 5 dollars for a family. visitors welcome.

Freeman inducted into Miami Alpha Lambda Delta honor society
A total of 194 undergraduate members and two faculty members were inducted into the Miami University chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta during the spring banquet in April. Larry A. Freeman of Milford was among the inductees. Dr. David G. Brown spoke, and Emma Jane Gammel received an honorary membership though she could not attend.

County to receive May local funds from state
Clermont County received 31435.01 dollars for local government fund distributions from Ohio for May. The monthly distribution to 88 counties and 388 cities and villages levying income taxes is based on 3.5 percent of prior month collections of state income, sales and corporate taxes. State Auditor Thomas E. Ferguson noted the fluctuation in amounts due to the percentage factor. The total May distribution was 8340065.26 dollars.

Milford archer Smyth qualifies for intercollegiate finals
Milford archer Gary M. Smyth a Miami University sophomore from Milford earned a qualifying slot at the Atlantic Archery Classic held at Atlantic Community College in May New Jersey. He competes for Miami as an engineering technology major and has a history of national tournaments and exhibitions. Concurrently Edgecliff Theatre opens Camelot June 8 with multiple weekend runs while An Italian Straw Hat follows June 29.
