Milford Frontier Days Parade Opens Weekend Festivities
Milford hosts Frontier Days from June 1 through the weekend with a 7:30 parade forming at the Milford shopping center and proceeding along U.S. 50 to Elm Street and the American Legion grounds. More than 70 units, Thunder Chicken, square dance demonstrations, clown face judging, cross country racing, canoe races, flower displays, cake decorating, art shows, and donut sinking contests featured amid rides and amusements.

Batavia council reappoints Gregg to cemetery board president
At a May meeting James Gregg of Batavia was reappointed by the village council to serve again as the president of the cemetery board. Gregg reported driveways in cemeteries would need some repairs. The total cemetery receipts for the year were $12,659 with expenditures of $12,601 leaving a balance of nearly $850.

New Richmond Names Larry Graves as Principal and Coordinator
Larry Graves, former Georgetown High School principal, is appointed principal of New Richmond High School. The 750 student 2 Class AA school will also have Graves as instruction coordinator, replacing retiring Harold Rawlings. Day Heights Fire Festival Canceled Amid Construction

Four trailer fires rock Milford area over Memorial Day
Milford and Miami East fire crews fought four fires in under 24 hours in the Milford area over Memorial Day. A major blaze at Harry's Trailer Service on Wolfpen Pleasant Hill Road and SR 28 destroyed multiple campers and a motor home, with losses estimated between 60 000 and 100 000 and arson suspected though not proven. Earlier, at Thielman's Mobile Home Sales on SR 28, five mobile homes burned and two damaged in a 3 am fire, with losses about 65 000. investigators called it very suspicious and samples sent to the state arson lab. A small trash fire behind the Milford ing Center and a fire at Terrace Park Country Club caused smaller losses.
