Interior communications electrician Jack Nimmo of Williamsburg was advanced in rate aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt on May 16. Airman Philip G. Palmer heads to Goodfellow AFB for training as a US Air Force communications analysis specialist. Terry F. Lambert of Milford earns specialist four in Germany with the 84th Artillery. PFC Kenton Caudill returns to Fort Sill after Pershing Missile firings at Cape Canaveral. Sgt First Class Thomas R. Coogan serves as platoon sergeant during NATO exercises in Germany. Major Donald S. Judd begins a 18 week command staff course at Fort Leavenworth. Major Allan J. Snyder completes an 18 week course for general staff potential. Airman Paul E. Smith is reassigned to Chanute AFB for automotive repair training.
Milford reports the Jaycettes elected officers for the coming year with Wilma Carey as president and Carol Wolf as vice president. The formal installation occurs at a Wishing Well Restaurant banquet in Cincinnati on May 9, with Allan Seeley and Toots Rau as speakers and Jean Lambert presenting the outstanding Jayceetree award.
The Bethel Garden Club met at Mrs. Charles Crawford’s home to hear Mrs. Ray Zimmerman of Sodom Road discuss irises. Zimmerman showcased her iris display and spoke on their special qualities and horticultural use. Two guests, Mrs. Clif Kennedy and Miss Bess Enfeld, attended along with all members.
Milford reports a combined Senior and Junior High School Band concert set for May 24 at Milford Main starting at 8:00 p.m. Fifth and sixth graders illustrate band progress with Plainsman Overture Sunset Waltz and Victor March. Junior High performs Pennies from Heaven Down By The Old Mill Stream Trombone Toboggan High Bold Viking et al. The two bands unite for Military Scote Big Top Overture and Desa finado. Free will donations welcomed.
The Alpha Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma held its May meeting at Ripley Methodist Church in Brown County. The program themed Founder's Day was led by Mrs Ade laide Shull with Mrs Mabel Drummond of Greenfield assisting. a candlelight service occurred in the main auditorium. Four new members were initiated: Mrs Burnace Abrams, Mrs Helen Brock, Mrs Ferne Mason and Miss Ara Ross. Committee reports were given by Mrs Ercil Wald ridge, Mrs Dorothy Lynch and Mrs Adeline Smith. A banquet followed in the church fellowship hall. May hostesses were Miss Leora Campbell, Mrs Elsa Boyd, Miss Isabel McCorry, Mrs Ada Sharp and Mrs Lucille Henise. Attendees from Clermont County included Miss Dora Abbott and Mrs Ruth Brammock.
Milford Garden Club hosts a dessert card party and bake sale at Milford South School at 1 p m on Wednesday June 5. Attendees may play any game bring own cards or games tickets from members or chairman Mrs Ralph Hodges door prizes and special prizes will be awarded Proceeds fund civic projects including Milford South Main Schools Memorial Park Greenlawn Cemetery spruce trees and Town Hall plantings.
Geraldos to perform live from Circus Hall of Fame in Sarasota Florida as part of Hagan-Wallace Circus shows at Cherry Grove Plaza from May 27 to June 1. Free daily performances announced for all attendees.
