Center visits reveal conditions at Batavia Residential Center
Three recent visits by the state licensure committee to the Batavia Residential Center show deteriorating conditions during Turner's administration. A renewal survey dated November 28 praised overall care under Mary Louise Oakes yet flagged serious issues with medication administration, missing emergency consent forms, dental updates, and psychological evaluations. The team recommended renewing the license for 126 ambulatory adults while studying ways to create a more home-like setting, noting facility repairs and odors from urine-soaked carpeting and sparse personal touches in bedrooms.
