Traffic Accident Toll Rises in Clermont County
Two highway crashes claim lives in Clermont County raising this year’s toll to 15. William E. Hurtt, 34, test driving a new 1957 convertible on SR 232 near SR 222, dies with two passengers, both foster sons of Homer McClanahan, who removed a truck battery to aid the test. In a separate crash on Ohio 133 between Bethel and Williamsburg, Mrs. William Kabler, 32, dies on arrival at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a head on collision with Harrell G. Boggs, 28, who is seriously injured. Both incidents left rescuers and hospital staff at the scene.

Narrow Escape In Batavia Easing Miss Meek's Morning Travel
Elizabeth Meek, 20, of Milford, escaped a crash on SR 132 near Batavia at 7:45 am Friday May 9 en route to Mt Lookout Savings. Her car veered across the highway after striking a post and stopped five feet from the East Fork river. She was shaken but uninjured and cited for speed not reasonable for conditions. Clarence Gross reported 21 vehicles in the area with one fatality noted near the N and W railroad trestle.
