Milford Defeats School Tax Levy In District Vote

Milford voters rejected an 8-mill levy after a district-wide tally of 1760 to 1213. Most precincts opposed the levy, with only a handful supporting earmarked funds for teachers. A separate Blanchester district levy passed 40 to 38 in Clermont County.

Clermont National Bank Plans New Main Office Site

Clermont National Bank has purchased a seven acre tract between Milford and Mulberry on Highway 28 for its future main office. The $225000 sale was from Louis M. Wuenker heirs near the Circle Freeway interchange. Construction may start this year. Judy Victoria Inc. buys 36.17 acres at Highway 131 and Pleasant Hill Road Day Heights for a shopping center and housing subdivision. A $1,213,000 federal sewer grant supports the Miami Goshen Stonelick project.

Jury Awards In Union Township for Circle Freeway Property

Two court awards set compensation for land needed for the Circle Freeway in Union Township. Arthur B. Meredit received 32,000 for 1.17 acres and a residence on Nine Mile Road at SR 125 after a jury verdict against the state which had offered 22,000. A second award totaled 30,500 to owners of 0.55 acre and Uncle Vernon's Carryout at Mt Moriah Drive and Mt Carmel Tabasco Road.

Bids received for rebuilding the McKeever Road bridge abutment at Williamsburg include J.T. Lohrer Construction Co. Milford as apparent low bidder at 16200 dollars. Steel I beams support the 90 year old structure closed by Engineer Earl Rush. School Bus Hit By Truck Injures Nine Near Felicity

Nine people were injured when a pickup hit a Felicity Franklin school bus at SR 222. The bus struck a utility pole after being struck on its side by the truck driven by Omer A. Meyer. Drivers Janice M. Erskine and Meyer's wife Gladys Meyer were among the injured along with students Brenda Morgan Lisa Morgan Teresa Morgan Charlotte Johnson Martha Roehm and Carl Roehm. All were treated at Brown County Hospital Georgetown and released. Meyer cited for failure to stop at SR 222.

Batavia appoints 21 year old William M Wahoff as patrolman after recommendation by Police Chief N C Ward. He follows Floyd Sells who resigned and lives in Mt Carmel with his wife Edith and son Larry. Wahoff is a Glen Este High graduate and former Highway Patrol dispatcher.
