Good Friday Worship At St Timothy's Beechmont

Clermont County backs fair tax amendment drive

Clermont County commissioners endorsed the Fair Tax Amendment at the March 18 meeting. Linda Wuerdeman urged support as petitions circulate in the county and other Ohio counties to place the measure on November ballots. She seeks about 25,000 county signatures and notes the proposal would return 50 percent of city earnings taxes to home municipalities. Some Norwood officials warn of lost city revenues, while Milford officials defer comment.

Commissioners say Costs held down on juvenile center

Clermont officials push a $1 million 15 bed juvenile facility on Bauer Road built as a pre engineered metal structure to trim costs. The center would also house the juvenile judge office and staff, and avoid the $7.2 million justice complex plan on SR 222.

ARC seeks probe of Clermont County Children’s Services over baby’s death

The Association for Retarded Citizens petitions Clermont County commissioners to investigate the county Department of Children's Services after Tosha Terry died on February 18. ARC claims lack of concern and wrongful placement by the agency led to the fatal outcome. Judy Terry was pregnant at the time and the child had been returned to the parents by Children’s Services after ARC involvement.

Preventive Medicine Center opening at Park 50 TechnoCenter

Clermont County will break ground in early April for a Preventive Medicine Center within Park 50 TechnoCenter on US 50 in Miami Township. The 22,000 square foot Atrium Center II building will split into treatment and support offices, offering exams, labs, x rays, and hearing and speech services to TechnoCenter users and the public. The project marks a new era in local health programs through a joint venture of Park 50, SDRC, and Clermont Mercy Hospital with completion slated by late summer.

Students complain about bugs at Glen Este High School

Three Glen Este High School students told the Courier that flying termites were present in the cafeteria while lunches were served. They also reported one of two girls’ restrooms being closed for cleaning and vandalism. Principal Warren Tipton confirmed termites in the cafeteria and said a custodian sprayed a repellent and that restroom supervision is limited.
