Dinner-at-Perkins fundraiser for Glen Este bands

The Glen Este High School marching band and Trojanettes drill team host a Dinner-at-Perkins fundraiser at Perkins Cake and Steak House on SR 32 March 22 from 5 to 9 pm. A seven meal menu at 3.50 each includes beverages and taxes. Proceeds aid their trip to a national competition in Winchester, Virginia in April. Tickets available from band members or at the door. The event features entertainment by the Trojan Brass. Open to the public.

Poison prevention events planned during National Poison Prevention Week

Clermont Mercy Hospital staff will highlight poisoning prevention and first aid during National Poison Prevention Week March 21 to 27. Pharmacists will staff an information booth March 23 and 24 with sessions 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Information covers poisonous houseplants household products medications and antidotes. Budget reflects shift to local control in Clermont County

Clermont County commissioners approved a 1982 budget totaling 61.943 million dollars, up nearly 30 million from 1981. The general fund will receive about 10.055 million, with federal grants contributing roughly 6 million. Local real estate taxes and sales tax projections support about half of the general fund, while departments like Sheriff and Courts see modest increases amid fund reallocations for projects and programs.

Goats Multiply at Pierce Township by Fran Schwiermann

The David Fankhauser family at 3569 Nine Mile Road in Pierce Township welcomed ten newborn goats after a week of multiple births, including triplets and quadruplets. Nine are male, leaving most for sale, while seven are black and white and three are light brown. The parents work at Clermont College, with David teaching biology and Jill a dance instructor. The brood added to their herd from nine to nineteen as they raise goats for milk and companionship.

Chelsea Moore seeks rezoning hearing March 23

Chelsea Moore again seeks B-7 zoning for 11 acres on Old SR 74 in Union Township. Trustees scheduled March 23 hearing after planning commission backed the change. Debates over curb cuts traffic and delays cited. some members urged modifications before approval.

New Clermont program targets alcohol and drug offenders

County officials plan a weekend alcohol and drug program by mid May as an alternative for first time and untreated repeat offenders. John Kelly of the Clermont County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse outlined the plan at a judges meeting. The program would screen for chronic problems and route severe cases to rehabilitation while helping others avoid future abuse. Up to 23 participants would use Grailville facilities, with sessions Friday 4 PM to Sunday 10 30 PM, and a $175 fee paid prior to attendance. Cards for program completion may suspend sentences or reduce court dockets.

Investigation continues in Branch Hill antique blaze

Investigators from Loveland Miami East and nearby departments battled a fire at Branch Hill Antiques 392 Bridge Street in a two story frame building begun in 1875. Fire officials believe the origin may be a wall in a second floor bathroom with damage around 35000 dollars. Two firefighters were treated and released at Bethesda North Hospital.
