Amelia high school's vocal department enters this year’s district solo and ensemble contest at Miami University on March 2. Girls Ensemble Group A and Group B plus a mixed ensemble perform. soloists Barbara Nies piano Pert Morgan tenor Jerry Smith baritone. Director Robert Ketcham notes it’s the first vocal entry in five years.

The Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest was held February 16 at the University of Cincinnati for grades 7 through 9. Carol Goforth earned a superior rating on tenor saxophone pieces Romana and Troika, with others receiving excellent: Rita McKenzie on Canzonetta, Evelyn Petraske on Bolero, Terri Reed on flute, and Madelon Toft on drums.

Peggy Bucher a Williamsburg high school senior won the DAR Good Citizen Award from Beech Forest Chapter Clermont County. Two seniors are selected for the American History test and the special pin was presented March 9 at the Presbyterian Church. Peggy is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Jacob G Bucher of Afton.

Owensville School Announces Winners of Art Contest
Owensville elementary held an art contest on Friday February 15 displaying best pictures from each room. Awards were given in every grade with first second and third place winners listed for grades one through seventh and special education. An open house for the PTA meeting March 19 will showcase science projects for grades 5 to 8 and a two act variety show is set for March 9 at 8 pm with public invitations.

Williamsburg High School Band and Chorus Concert
The Williamsburg Junior and Senior High School bands and choruses present a concert in the high school auditorium directed by John McCormick. The Junior High and Senior High choruses each sing four songs, and the concert band performs an arrangements set. Admission is fifty cents for adults and thirty five cents for students. tickets are available from any band or chorus member.
