Clermont wrestlers reach state meet at Ohio State arena

Nine Clermont County wrestlers advance to the state championship at Ohio State University St. John’s Arena in Columbus. Williamsburg’s Ed Ratcliff pinned Dick Greenwell to win 126 pounds, Jeff Fee of Williamsburg dominates at 155 with a 32 1 record, and Bethel’s Matt Lanning at 175 also shines as district champions. Glen Este’s Brian Morris finishes fourth at 126 in Class AAA as the districts wrap.

Unbeaten Queen City gymnasts seek title

The Queen City Gymnastics Center Class II team, undefeated in the Western Ohio Conference, hosts the Western Ohio Conference championships on March 7 and the Southwest and Central Sectional meets on March 14. Gymnasts Stephanie Frazer Kim Gilmore Diane Kelly Maria Kneipp Jill McCullough Kris Senter Cassie Wuest aim to score 60 points to reach the state tournament and reclaim the sectional title from Universal Gymnastics Columbus. Evans 3rd in Ohio diving at state finals

Glen Este's Pat Evans placed third in the Class AAA state diving competition with a 459.85 total from eleven finals dives. Cincinnati schools swept the top spots with Indian Hill St. Xavier and Sycamore earning other placings as GE praises Evans talent and school pride. A benefit donkey basketball game at Bethel High School on Thursday March 7 raises funds for the school athletic department with gate prices set at 2.50.
