The Fraternal Order of Eagles 2289 hosts a St Patrick's Day Dance on Saturday March 13 at 9 p.m. at the Eagles hall on SR 132 and Clough Pike Batavia featuring Roger Dabney and the Countrymen with guest Leo Bradley. Beer chips set ups provided BYOB admission seven fifty per person with all proceeds to the heart and cancer fund.

Bauer Road chosen for juvenile center

Cler mont County commissioners approve a Bauer Road site for the new Juvenile Detention Center near the Medical Social Services Center and Batavia Mercy Hospital. The center will hold 15 juveniles with projected costs under 1 million dollars funded from the general fund and is slated to begin construction in July with completion targeted for late February next year.

Orthopaedic Specialists seek bonds for Eastgate project

Orthopaedic Specialists Inc asks Clermont CIC for $600000 in redevelopment bonds to build a 10000 square foot medical facility on 1.6 acres on Aicholtz Road near Pee Mal. The 7000 square feet would be leased to other medical specialists. Central Trust Bank of Cincinnati to purchase bonds. CIC meets at 1 p.m. Friday March 12 in the Heritage Building Batavia. Also, county leaders agree to issue $1 million in economic development bonds for a McDonald’s near Mt Carmel Road I-275 SR125 interchange.

Rosenhoffer Runs For Common Pleas Judge As Independent

County judge and lifelong Republican Chris Rosenhoffer launches an independent bid for one of the two common pleas seats, challenging Republican John L. Watson who was appointed in 1981. Rosenhoffer must file petitions by March 25 for November ballot inclusion, citing past election literature disappearances as motivation for non partisan petitions.

Hanley earns county building supervisor post amid GOP clash

Robert Hanley of Owensville was hired as county building supervisor at $18,000 annually, effective March 15, by a 21 to 0 vote. Commissioner Dale Romohr, a Republican, criticized GOP appointment methods while saying his vote was not personal against Hanley, a Democrat since 1970, and noted Hanley will oversee custodians, buildings, equipment, and the juvenile detention center project.
