Local bids strained for East Fork beach project
Sen Cooper Snyder with the chamber and director Ed Parish urge the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Corps to use local Jermon County firms for East Fork State Park work but gains are limited. Sherman R Smoot Camps in Columbus, advised by the Corps, will win a bathhouse and snack contract at Harsha Lake and will seek local suppliers like Clermont Lumber but bids rely on outside prices. Leonard A Bosserman of Clermont Lumber raised concerns after seeing project news with no bid notice. WDNR resists broad inviting proposals, preferring concessionists handle snacks, while Savider suggests operators try outside the park.
