Batavia resident Cindy Grant four years old clutches a book chosen at the West Clermont Board of Education book giveaway held June 27 in the gymnasium. The event drew thousands of textbooks and library books for free distribution as Cindy's mother Charlotte Grant and her son Kevin twelve looked on.

Sales-tax hearing set in Clermont County jail plan
A first public hearing on a proposed half percent sales tax to fund a new adult detention facility is set for Monday July 18 in Meeting Room A at the East Batavia Heights building. A new jail committee, appointed by Clermont County commissioners, will meet to review architect Thomas F. Cole’s 18 month old plans and gather input from office holders and citizens.

In Middletown three men halted James and Wanda Riley from reopening State Fireworks Co store at 2099 Ohio 125 Mt. Holly after the 12th District Court of Appeals refused to stay the Clermont County Common Pleas injunction. The injunction bars sales and shipment rules, remains until full merits heard, and the Rileys will not reopen this year.
