G W Oxley aged 85 died at his West Batavia home Tuesday after a brief illness. He was a Civil War veteran held in high esteem by friends. Survived by sons Dr Marion Oxley and Wilshire Oxley of Cincinnati and daughter Mrs Jacob Friend of Batavia. Funeral from his home Thursday at 2 p m with burial at Milford.
A large horned owl captured by progressive East Fork farmer Fred Ungelhuem near Batavia was turned over to Cincinnati Zoo. The unsightly bird preys on young chicks and nestlings. such owls are not common in the area though bell buzzards have also been noted nearby.
