Legion Picnic at Cincinnati Zoo Hosted by Hamilton County Posts
The second annual American Legion picnic in Hamilton County will be at the Cincinnati Zoological Garden on Saturday July 2 with afternoon and evening events. Activities include a county wide baseball game athletic contests dancing concerts and ice show. Tickets sold by Legion members or at Broadway Headquarters, Cincinnati. All Legion members invited.

Solemn Holy Trinity Service Draws Colorful Procession
A Sunday night service at Holy Trinity church featured a large delegation of colored attendees and children in a religious procession honoring Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Ten priests led the solemn benediction as the altars were beautifully decorated. Next Sunday Father Evers will preach at Stone Lick and Holy Trinity on Apostles Peter and Paul and church authority.

Vacation Bible School Meet Hails Small Fund Growth
Monday evening at Batavia M E church a Vacation Bible School meeting heard treasurer Miss Wilke report a small initial fund that grew enough to cover bills and running costs aided by local business groups. Mrs P F Jamieson praised the staff and urged making the program a permanent part of local schooling. A nine member committee was formed from three representatives per church to organize next summer.

New Steamer Service on the C and B Line to Erie and Buffalo
The Cleveland and Buffalo Transit Company announces a new daily steamer service between Cleveland and Buffalo on the C and B line starting July 5. The City of Erie will depart Cleveland at 4 30 p m on alternate days, stop at Erie at 10 30 p m, depart at midnight, and reach Buffalo at 6 a m EST. Return trips leave Buffalo at 5 30 p m, stop at Erie at 10 30 p m, depart at midnight, and arrive in Cleveland at 6 a m. The route offers daylight lake rides, rail and auto travel convenience, and integrates with existing OC and B line services. The Goodtime steamer offers Cedar Point and Put in Bay excursions with nightly moonlight rides and on board dancing, plus an orchestra.

Marathon Grange initiates largest Clermont class
On June 17 at the Marathon Grange hall the crack Marathon No. 2002 degree team initiated 36 candidates in Clermont county. About 200 Grangers attended as the group embraced farmers and their families in a landmark Grange ritual lesson and ceremony.

Boys Captured After Night Absence Near Batavia
Virgil Ulm aged 9 and Franklin Ulm aged 12, sons of Charles Ulm of Avondale, left home Saturday afternoon and wandered toward Batavia. After a night hidden at an oil station, they walked toward Mt. Carmel where Marshal Krantz found and returned them to Batavia for a reunion with their worried parents.

City Men Arrested After Moonshine Outing Collision
Four Cincinnati men Oscar Coxey Geo Mueller and Chas Pellman drove to Batavia for an outing with Mueller's father and carried a gallon of moonshine and home brew bottles. A collision on the creek road with John Dumford followed after they stopped for ice. Sheriff Croswell and W E Kain arrested them for possession of liquor. Pellman became a witness, Coxey was released, Mueller pled guilty and was fined $100 and costs. Mueller is a retired Cincinnati policeman employed at Kroger Packing House.

Obituary for Lowell A. Daugherty Soldier and Student Leader
Lowell A. Daugherty son of Walter and Ida Daugherty was born February 26 1897 and died April 27 1927 at age 30. He served in Cincinnati Base Hospital No 26 Camp Sherman and in France before completing Miami University studies and a stint at Chicago Art School. Southern magnolia blossoms showcased by Deputy Treasurer Erdman
