Batavia Council Allocates Revenue Funds and Zoning Votes
Batavia village councilmen approved 6377 in revenue sharing funds. About half will buy a leaf vacuum with 25 percent for parking and 23 percent for the fire department. 2 percent funds police equipment. Zoning requests by The Batavia Church of the Nazarene and Howard Bissantz were rejected amid traffic concerns. Batavian Graduate Becomes Ensign in Navy on Graduation Day
ENSIGN ROSS Nicholas J. Ross, son of Mr and Mrs Raymond A Ross of Batavia, earned a Bachelor of Science in the Miami University Business School management department on June 10 and was commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Navy. He received a Navy ROTC scholarship with full tuition and $100 monthly benefits and served as lesson officer advisor to the Miami Mariner's during his senior year. Ross will join the Miami NROTC staff to aid in recruiting this summer and then report to the Penacola-based command.

Batavian Batavia resident Ann Branch daughter of Mr and Mrs David Branch Batavia earned a bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Cincinnati during a June 3 graduation. A special nursing ceremony preceded the regular exercises at William Zimmer Auditorium Brodie Complex. About 76 nursing graduates received degrees Miss Branch will work as a staff nurse in the Cincinnati General Hospital psychiatric unit after a short Texas vacation. She is a Batavia High School alumna.

Batavia High School Academic Team placed second in WLWT's final Its Academic telecast for 1972 73. Holmes High School Covington Kentucky won with 490 points while Batavia earned 265 and Seton 210. Batavia members Judy Nichols Jeffery Dinnen and Carl Minning won portable TVs AM FM clock radios. other teams received pen and pencil sets.
