Acting Director Named for Clermont County Health Clinic

Dr Margot Mellies pediatrician named acting director by Clermont County Commissioners for the Clermont County Children's Health Clinic she has served part time for 22 months. The clinic will use revenue sharing funds after October 1 and charge on a sliding scale. Officials announced the merger of the Children's Health Clinic and Children's Dental Clinic with the Dental Clinic staffed by Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Hospital Lease Signed Opens Oct 1 East of Batavia

A Cincinnati based Sisters of Mercy will operate a public hospital near Batavia beginning October 1 under a 10 year lease for $1 per year. The three story brick building will house general exam and treatment rooms, two floors of 72 patient rooms each, no maternity ward, and emergency care for maternity cases if needed. Administrated by Sister Mary George Boklage, staff largely Clermont County residents.

Temporary Workshop Site

The board has 75000 from a county bond issue to finance the facility. Currently 42 persons are employed at the work activities center. The program serves retarded adults who can be trained to do limited work. Upon the board taking responsibilities July 1 it will add an adult activities center for nonworking adults and a workshop for handicapped adults who can perform restricted work. Outside employment is sought for all adult students.

Delta Queen Set for Clermont County Calliope Concert

The Delta Queen will dock at New Richmond on Monday June 25 around 9 p.m. for a Clermont County audience concert. Capt. Ernest Wagner will steer the steamer amid a blocked riverfront crowd of listeners. The Delta Queen pauses its Pittsburgh trip as Congress considers a five year extension of Ohio River service.
