Neville Man Critical After Auto Accident

Jesse D. Thornton age 67 of Neville remains in critical condition at Bethesda Hospital Cincinnati after an auto crash near New Richmond on May 30. His vehicle turned onto Augusta Street and struck a car driven by James F. Gray age 62 from Catlettsburg Kentucky. A pedestrian William Strange age 23 from Bethel was struck and treated and released. The crash remains under investigation.

Faith Baptist Church in Williamsburg has completed plans for a new school. Rev. Kenneth Ogle says applications are accepted for students and teachers. The facility will offer classes from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Accident Takes Teenager's Life in Pleasant Plain

A Pleasant Plain man died Friday when his car left Pleasant Plain Road one mile south of Ohio 132 and struck a tree. James W. Ballard aged 19 was killed instantly. his brother Kenneth Ballard, 15, was taken to Clinton Memorial and then to General Hospital in Cincinnati in fair condition.

Bethel Man Held On Arson Charge

William Lee Dumford, 20, of Bethel is charged with two arsons in Bethel. He faced arraignment in Clermont County Court on a $25,000 bond. Dumford allegedly set fires at Lorie’s Supermarket and a Masonic Lodge building, and to boxes on a truck by Edward’s Discount Store. He admitted involvement, with prior related fires and prior charges noted.

Trucker Convicted In Stolen Car Case

Trial set in August for Schmid who faces charges of disposing of a stolen car and a continuing course of conduct in dealing with stolen cars. One witness against Schmid was John M Parsons, former auto dealer in Milford.

Half of Elklick Pike is out of service awaiting inundation by East Fork Reservoir. S J Groves and Sons Co. operates at a $12 257 000 contract site near the dam and saddle dam under the project. Topsoil stockpiled for saddle dam embankments while vandalism delays warning signage.

BMV Pays Out Auto Tag Fees in Ohio County Allocation

The Ohio BMV distributes 555063 to Clermont County as its share of over 74 million dollars in 1972 license plate revenues. The first of three installments totals about 55 percent of the distribution to local tax districts once August and December installments are finished. Clermont’s share includes the permissive tax allowed by law and reflects a new accounting system shifting the timing of allocations.

Extension Agent Resigns for Laurel Oaks Teaching Job

County Extension Agent Robert Sutton will leave the Extension Service on June 30 to teach at Laurel Oaks Vocational School. A Clermont County native, he earned a 1965 OSU B.S. in agriculture and previously supervised beef shows in Kentucky. During five years as 4H agent, 900 to 1800 members joined, with growth in beef and horse programs and new rabbit and dog shows. He will teach advanced farm management and help run the school’s model farm.

Clermont educators oppose HB 86 arguing the 4.1 percent budget rise fails to ease local funding constraints. Batavia Drug Raid Nets 7 Offenders

Chief N C Ward said the Batavia investigation of an illegal garden will continue. Sheila Hildebrandt, 19, of 125 S Riverside Dr is free on 2000 bond and charged with keeping a Taylor 18 of 230 Edith Ave and Carl Schauer 21 of 113 S Riverside Dr. The youths, two 17 year olds and one 18, from Williamsburg and Batavia, were charged with frequenting undesirable premises. Claret paper and equipment indicating marijuana use were found at the scene.

Owner Slain Over River Car Found At Stonelick

Kentucky State Police investigated the slaying of Robert Shadduck, 39, of Brighton Michigan, whose body was found with a thigh wound on SR 221. His car, later linked to him, was abandoned at Stonelick State Park after getting stuck in wet grass as a park ranger investigated an improper driving citation. The widow reported he had telephoned from Florida after picking up a hitchhiker in Macon Georgia.

County officials outline six month revenue sharing plan

Clermont County Commissioners propose a $172,997 six month revenue sharing distribution with $42,600 for public safety, $36,000 each for dental and health clinics, $38,397.92 for administration, and $50,000 for capital improvements. A $6,000 six month program funds revenue and needs surveys for aged and poor. Funds cannot cover existing federal financed programs or pre 1971 debt.
