Ohio Legislature Passes Progressive Reforms In 1911 Sessions
The seventy ninth general assembly near adjournment enacted broad changes including direct election of United States senators, workingmen's compensation, centralized control of state institutions, public utilities regulation, a one per cent tax cap with budget oversight, and nonpartisan judicial elections. It also expanded elections reform, amended canal and road policies, and advanced education and farm instruction with a focus on safety, public health, and modernization across utilities, banking, and municipal governance.
