Batavia Ohio based Clermont Courier publishes weekly on Thursdays. It notes second class matter status at Batavia post office under the 1870 act and traces lineage to The Spirit of the Times 1826 and The Chronicle of the Times.
Clermont County Grand Jury returned indictments on 15 persons amid new rulings requiring decisions for all defendants within 60 days. Indicted include John B. Blankenship for first degree vehicular homicide and others on burglary, larceny, morals, non support, and property destruction charges.
Clermont Care Center, a youth counseling initiative, opens Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. in Milford, housed in 210 Mill Street near the bridge. The project, led by Milford residents and Clermont County officials, seeks donations and volunteers to provide counseling and referral services for drug, social, medical, and personal issues among county youth.
Susan Wolff of Milford, a junior in Ohio State University’s School of Home Economics, teams with Dr. E E Darrow and Mike Pullins to present a slide show series at high schools, 4 H meetings, and agricultural agents meetings. The talks address today’s youth and social issues. They show how careers in agriculture, home economics, and natural resources can solve hunger and pollution problems. The program invites audience questions and aims to personalize outreach under the banner you can make a world of difference.
The Day Heights Garden Club met at Mrs Turner s home. Civic beautification chairwoman Mrs Bertram announced trimming at the corner planting Betty Lane and Route 131. Horticulture chairwoman Mrs Kirby gave timely hints. Members warned bag worms and Japanese beetles. spray recommendations noted.
Richard Worthington presents an award to C A House for graphic arts education at Cincinnati Technical Institute. Two full tuition scholarships for one term are offered to high school graduates seeking graphic arts study, via Gene Krygowski and Tom Miller.
A. E. Hendrixson received a commemorative plaque from Governor John J. Gilligan honoring his 100th birthday. The governor praised seniors for their contribution to Ohio's quality of life.
