Hospital bids exceed engineers estimates in Clermont County

Clermont County hospital bids last week exceeded engineers estimates and no award is planned until new financing is arranged. The hospital commission will send letters of intent to low bidders for several trades including general contracting Vern Weller Inc, heating and ventilating Stark Plumbing, plumbing Great Lakes Hotel Service, kitchen Don Ayer, electrical Smith and Schaeffer, cabinets.

Two Named To Promote Clermont Public Library Levy

The Clermont Public Library Board of Trustees names David Schneider attorney and Gilbert Dale County Probation Officer to lead the campaign for a 2.4 mill library levy. A public meeting on August 25 at 7 30 p m in the Court House annex invites all interested citizens. Joseph Evans and Lee serve as board president. A proposed central library would be built east of Batavia on land donated by Joseph and Peter Urban with possible sites at Herald Rd or SR 32. Building plans by Hal Fichter are to be shown at the August 25 meeting.

Bradley Heads Curriculum At Northeastern

Leo H. Bradley is named director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Clermont Northeaster School District to replace Lonnie Barker Jr. He previously served as assistant in the Northeastern Curriculum Department and as Mt. Crab high school principal before that. The 4-H and FFA Steer Sale will be held at 1 30 pm Friday at the Clermont Sley Fair with Bissantz Auctioneers of Batavia selling over 70 steers.

County approves building permit fee hike and sewer project

The Board of County Commissioners approved a 25 to 30 percent increase in building permit fees, the first rise since 1955, with Alfred Ginn the new rate schedule author. A sewer repairs project and fluoridation questions for several public water systems were noted, and Goebel Hill Road near Twelve Mile Road was to be transferred to Ohio Township trustees under a verbal agreement. The commissioners also adopted a resolution to purchase $24,000 in general amenities.

Six Jurors Selected Tentatively In Trial

A shotgun death occurred April 15 at a New Richmond home 527 Sycamore Street. Prosecuting Attorney Robert A. Jones and assistant Melvin Reifin represented the state as six jurors were selected tentatively for the trial.

Clermont County Public Service Work Funds Announced

Clermont County wins a public service employment grant totaling 736,600 from the Labor Department via the Emergency Employment program. County leaders Ralp Houser and Harold Krampien travel to Chicago with details as Congressman Harsha notes the county’s share, funding aimed at jobs in fire protection police education parks and pollution control.
