Ohio poultry raisers face big decision on culling and pullets
Ohio University extension poultry expert D. D. Moyer says egg prices are down about 32 percent from a year ago and farmers should begin culling laying flocks now to cut costs. He notes many producers did not hatch pullets and plan to keep older flocks, recommending removal of early and slow moulting hens and considering August or September pullet starts for potential profitability.
