Clermont County Genealogical Society to Meet in Batavia
Clermont County Genealogical Society holds its regular meeting Friday August 6 at 8 p.m. in the Batavia Library. The Reading Room opens at 7 p.m. for research. The program is a free for all with members sharing family history anecdotes. Open to all interested in genealogy or local history. Clermont County Youth Services runs an August drive to support its drug education counseling programs. Bring newspapers to the County Service Center on SR 222 in Batavia August 26 to September 2. David Zurmehly Jr of Batavia and four fellow University of Kentucky agriculture students were selected for the R J T internship program in tobacco education. The interns will work with Extension Specialists through part time posts next academic year, aiming to foster leadership and careers in tobacco economics and industry. Zurmehly is an Alpha Gamma Rho officer and Kentucky FFA state vice president.

Country jamboree and telethon plan in Clermont County
A country music jamboree hosted by a local association will run Sunday from noon to midnight at McGuire Field in Clermont County with acts Laredo Cheyenne Billie Gant and the Vigilantes Willie Begley and the Poor Boys Danny Burton and the WSAI and WIOK. A rain date is set for August 29. Volunteers for the Jerry Lewis Telethon can call 531-5801 to request a marcher’s kit with certificates for $50 and $100 plus iron-on.
