Clermont County Junior Fair crowns Cole and Hamilton royalty
Sally Cole of Batavia and David Hamilton of Felicity were named Junior Fair King and Queen at Clermont County Fair Owensville. Finalists included Annette Cooper Sandy Greeson Carl Church and Pat Greeson. The pair will reign through the fair and the Queen will attend the Ohio State Fair Riverfest. 4-H and FFA members led judging and events with 5000 people involved in exhibits and shows. Junior Fair Board sells T shirts to fund after fair party. results continue in later Courier editions.

County GOP backs four judicial candidates in Clermont
The Clermont County Republican committee endorsed four judicial hopefuls at a July meeting. Michael Voris and Robert Linder were named for common pleas court. Voris, a Cherry Grove attorney, and Linder, from Batavia, have ties to Union Township and the county public defender program. The prize four include two current judgeships with elections and a newly created post after the 1980 census.

Zimmer emergency plan discussed by ZAC officials
ZAC members met with Clermont County officials at the National Guard Armory in Batavia to critique the emergency plan. Topics included volunteers, evacuations for children and disabled persons, road clearance during blizzards, and relocation center services. A monthly OGRE committee was proposed, with ZAC claiming 500 active members and a 10 member executive board.

Ultralight Flying Club drops Apple Road operation
Batavia Township Ultralight Flying Club will cease activity on Apple Road effective Sept. 1, 1982. Residents voiced objections while director Dr. Paul Germann cited no law violations, and legal counsel Bill Schilling alleged zoning issues. The private Humphries airport, used by owner and invitees, was cited as Class 4.

New Richmond Sets 1983 Budget Totals and Revenue Shares
The village approves a 1983 budget totaling 2.791 million dollars built on 1.340 million receipts and 1.451 million carried from 1982. General fund mainly from property tax rises by 15 700 to 225 000. locally shared taxes up 6 050 to 67 050. Public utility funds sum to 448 979 with 168 949 for water revenue, 180 000 for water bond levy, and 100 030 for sewers.

Outdated Chemicals Disposed From West Clermont High Schools
CECOS CER hazardous waste team removed five drums of old chemicals from Amelia and Glen Este High Schools. Spokesman James Hamilton said some dated to 1971 1972 and included sulphuric acid that could burn skin. Landfill at 5092 Road Williamsburg charged $0 for disposal with teachers and students unaffected. about 900 students at each high school.
