Hamilton Sees Easy Victory For London
Chicago dispatch reports campaign managers agree the presidential race centers in the Lake states to the Atlantic coast. John D. M. Hamilton predicts Landon carries key northern and western states and Wisconsin and West Virginia swing Republican. He bases victory on 221 electoral votes from northeast states and 45 outside the region, totaling a path to 266. Farley and Nyston echo concerns about Ohio and New England. Lemke’s bid may deny majorities, pushing election to the House, with Union party holding balance of power. Chicago urban registration, led by Townsend and Coughlin supporters, could boost Roosevelt or complicate results. City of Chicago shows large spikes in permanent registration.
