ANCHORAGE Alaska Oct 23 frightened residents roamed the streets after a severe earthquake that rolled the earth in undulating waves. No deaths or injuries were reported though chimneys toppled and cars moved about. Minor shocks persisted through the night as fragile structures and shelves were damaged. The temblor appeared centered in Anchorage with no nearby area reporting a serious quake.

Child Injured In Traffic Crash Near Wellington Route 18
Frances Wolfe, 3, daughter of Mr and Mrs Leon Wolfe of Taylor Street Wellington, suffered a severe lip laceration in a collision on Route 18 near Westlake Park. She was in a car with her parents and sisters Barbara and Leona when their vehicle was sideswiped by a car driven by 17 year old George Orsik who resides northwest of Wellington.
