L K in Oberlin blocks planning group request on site design

Oberlin developers of the L K Restaurant on South Main Street refused the planning commission's demand to move the building closer to the street. The panel feared a front parking area would spur strip development and create a blacktop wasteland while noting bike and pedestrian presence. The zoning lacks a rule forcing street-fronting construction, and the firm, unavailable for comment, plans a 100-seat restaurant with 60 to 75 parking spaces on the east side of South Main between the railroad and Lincoln Street in an industrial area.
