Sherlene Bloomquist sought to clear a 29 cent error on her Sears charge account but received a credited finance charge of 161 509 808 283 14 dollars after a billing dispute. She had been charged 266.18 for three appliances versus 166.06 agreed. The error occurred as computers were down and back and forth billing ensued.
Two West Philadelphia workers escaped serious harm after a scaffold failed and left them clinging to safety belts for ten minutes. They joked to ease fear while ropes looped around their waists kept them from falling, with rescuers arriving to secure the scene. Officials noted the scaffold hung at a 45 degree angle between the 28th and 30th floors and a full cause was not yet known.
