Mistrial in case of black man accused of targeting white officer

In Montgomery Alabama prosecutors won a mistrial ruling after jurors deadlocked 8 whites and 4 blacks on the case of 49 year old Worrie Taylor from Warren Ohio charged with attempted murder and related counts in a February 27 confrontation with two plainclothes officers inside a funeral home. The judge dismissed robbery and kidnapping charges and scheduled a new trial. Taylor’s defense argued insufficient proof while police said the officers identified themselves and were attacked. The mistrial follows a trial highlighted by racial tensions and conflicting witness accounts with jurors split on acquittal or conviction.
