Oberlin grads protest Gaza war at commencement
Hundreds of Oberlin College graduates turned their backs on the ceremony in Tappan Square to protest the Israel-Hamas war and the college’s alleged ties to pro-Israel firms. Student speaker Julia Maskin led a pro-Palestine chant as she cited ethics and divestment, while Rhiannon Giddens addressed the crowd with a moment of silence for global victims of conflict.

The book, inspired by Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, traces late 19th and early 20th century mansions built by new millionaires who echoed European grandeur, including Manhattan's 21 Club with a speakeasy style wine cellar.
