Chester Gould 84 dies creator of Dick Tracy
Chester Gould who created the Dick Tracy comic strip has died at age 84 in Woodstock Illinois. He passed away at home after years of ill health and a heart attack in October. Gould born in Pawnee Oklahoma moved to Chicago to pursue art and sold ideas to publishers in 1932. The strip ran in more than 500 newspapers and featured villains with vivid names and distinct looks, shaping early crime comic style. Gould's daughter Jean O Connell confirmed the death and noted his lifelong fascination with crime.

Jerome V. Busser of Lorain reported his 18 foot inboard outboard boat stolen from Dickason's Marina at 3961 Oakpoint Road around 8 35 a m. The craft reappeared two hours later at Copper Kettle Marina with damage and missing anchor life jackets depth finder and CB radio. Value estimated at 500 a class ring was found aboard bearing no name or initials.
