Steel haulers end Youngstown walkout return to work

About 500 Youngstown steel haulers voted Friday to return to work, finalizing the end of a month long strike. The group, led by Jim Reese, said they would pressure remaining holdouts and expected signings as other companies resume hauling steel. Shipments in Pennsylvania returned to normal while Ohio Northeastern levels lagged.

Strongsville Man Killed In Head-On Crash Involving Stolen Car

David C. Barkes, 25, of Strongsville, died early today from chest injuries after a head-on collision on North Rocky River Drive with a stolen 1975 Mercury driven by a 17-year-old Berea youth. Barkes died at Southwest General Hospital at 4 18 a.m. The youth, treated for minor injuries, is held in Berea city jail. Charges are expected in juvenile court. The stolen car had been taken from a Lawson's parking lot three blocks away at 7 W. Grand St.

Bankruptcy suits planned against Goldberg stores

Federal bankruptcy actions will be filed in Cleveland next week for all Meyer Goldberg supermarkets Inc. units. Receiver Lewis A. Zipkin says actions against the remaining corporations will follow in U.S. District Court. Conservators report assets at 549,590 and creditors claim about 600,000 as Goldberg faces multiple suits and suspended operations.

Levine set to return to Shaker Heights today

Michael G. Levine 35, accused of kidnap slaying Cleveland supermarket executive Julius Kravitz, planned to return from Virginia to Ohio to face murder and kidnapping charges. He waived extradition in Arlington County and surrendered with his brother. John A. File 26, alleged partner, appeared in court as bond was set at 150000. Services for Kravitz, 68, drew about 700 mourners including Senator Metzenbaum and Representative Vanik.
