Seabrook cooling system upheld by appeals court
The U S Court of Appeals unanimously upheld EPA approval of a cooling system for the Seabrook nuclear plant on the New Hampshire coast. Environmentalists argued it would threaten young flounder and smelt, but Chief Judge Frank M. Coffin said the 7,000 foot offshore intake would not endanger the fish and that the EPA’s rationale was compelling.
