Bill Cosby and Larry and Charles Dolan outline a bid to buy the Cleveland Browns aiming to field a winning team and a socially responsible franchise. They propose 30 percent ownership each for the Dolan trio, 5 percent for Cosby, and 5 percent held in reserve, with Cosby stressing player development and adherence to NFL and Players Association conduct rules.
Lorain resident George C. Sas claimed a $100000 Kicker prize from the Ohio Lottery. He turned in the Saturday drawing ticket at the Lorain Lottery Commission office. After taxes, his payout is about $68500. Sas, once with U S Steel and USS Kobe Steel Lorain plants, declined comment. He bought the ticket at Don's Marathon on Colorado Avenue.
LaShawnda Slaughter, 23, testified in Lorain Common Pleas Court about a December 22 1995 incident in which a bullet pierced her hat and door as Jammeellee Smith 21 allegedly threatened her with a stolen 9 mm pistol. Smith later pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property.
Police investigated a Tuesday morning robbery at National City Bank on North Abbe Road. A white man about 40, balding, in a gray sweatshirt with blue collar fled unknown by car or on foot. Bank closed as officers interviewed staff.
Elyria reports the Lear Romeo Corp strike ended Monday as the local IAMAW union accepted a three year contract. Workers returned to their jobs today per Local 1849 president Tom Burnett. Talks were quiet with no further comments from the company. The strike began May 15 at midnight and benefits were cited as the main driver.
Avon County Prosecutor Gregory White said the former Council president Edward Krystowski’s business dealings deserve investigation after Krystowski resigned May 26. White noted other Avon issues will be reviewed but declined to specify details.
