Stand-in defendant's conviction reversed in Florida

Jeffrey Streeter's second day in court ended better than the first as Polk County Judge Edward Threadgill reversed his July 15 conviction finding the wrong man guilty. Streeter had stood in for defendant Lee Marvin Anderson in a spur of the moment switch orchestrated by Tampa attorney Warren Dawson. Eyewitnesses identified Streeter as the attacker, but the judge ordered Anderson's trial and kept Streeter's record unsettled while noting Streeter's fill-in role. Streeter, nervous at first, left the courtroom relieved and vowed not to help strangers again.
