Firestone to plead guilty in false tax returns case
Firestone Tire and Rubber Co officials will plead guilty to two charges of filing false income tax returns involving 124 million dollars. The Akron based firm allegedly underreported 9 million in 1972 and 3.5 million in 1973, with funds earned 1966 through 1971. The indictment also accuses officials of conspiring to defraud the IRS, though that charge may be dismissed at arraignment July 19.
