President Carter pays surprise visit to Pittsburgh area couples
In Carnegie, Jimmy Carter joined six local couples and pollster Pat Cad dell for an unscheduled back porch chat. Neighbors watched as five Secret Service cars swept in and Carter stayed about two hours, asking the group where they see the United States in five years. The meeting followed Carter’s Camp David return from Asia and came amid energy and economic concerns.
