Turtle grabbing in marshes yields large snappers
July rain and high water slowed six day turtle hunts for Art Bishop of Penfield. He still noodled a dozen big snappers in two days near Rittman, six between 22 and 30 pounds with one pair at 27 pounds. A nearby 40 to 50 pounder eluded capture as Bishop’s leg was bitten during the fight.

Ohio Division of Wildlife announces fall waterfowl hunting in Mosquito Creek Killdeer Plains Magee Marsh Mercer and Ottawa management areas. Applications run Aug 1 31 with a 5 permit fee. Two hunters per blind. pair up in one application for $10. Send checks to the Division of Wildlife at the Fountain Square address. Separate applications required for each area and per area applicants may be disqualified if duplicative. Mercer Killdeer Mosquito areas limit to 10 shells per hunter.
