FCC Begins Processing TV Applications in Washington
The Federal Communications Commission started reviewing proposals for new television stations in Washington. More than 400 applications were on file, with potential for up to 1,000. No grants will be made immediately, as each applicant’s qualifications must be assessed and competitive hearings held if multiple parties seek the same channel. Priority goes to cities without a station within 40 miles and those assigned only ultra high frequency channels.
