Nuclear plant control system goes haywire at Crystal River
The NRC began a review of a Crystal River No 3 reactor after a control system malfunction spilled up to 60000 gallons of radioactive water inside the containment. No radiation escaped the plant and the reactor core remained undamaged. A cold shutdown followed within hours as investigators noted no equipment damage and normal radiation levels outside the building.
