The Ohio Education Association urged an immediate $4,000,000 appropriation for public schools when the legislature reconvenes February 25. They noted funds may come as an advance or grant, with local tax collections not yet started and few counties closing tax books before April. The first state school fund payment on February 29 will be small due to tax reporting lags and sales tax reductions. An $4,000,000 aid would add about $3 per pupil in average daily attendance.
