Ditch projects dominate Lorain County commission meeting

Lorain County commissioners debated two ditch issues, approving a study on the Straw Haag ditch costs and design to assess if cleaning widening and deepening is warranted. The plan would cost about 600 acres to be assessed with preliminary $79,000 estimates and a two to three month study. In Grafton, attention shifted to the Alexander ditch with residents opposing expansion while seeking a retention basin funded partly by state programs, potential $100,000 cost and a later hearing for grant application.
