Elyria board to craft policy on student searches
After a closed session lasting over three hours superintendent Calvin Leader said a future strip search would require board approved policy. The meeting followed parents’ complaints about seventh graders forced to strip during a search. A policy committee will draft guidelines by April 30, with ACLU and legal representatives monitoring the process.

Elyria Memorial Hospital has joined Emerald Health Care Network a low cost PPO with 1 500 physicians in Greater Cleveland This makes EMH the first Lorain County hospital in the network which aims to reduce costs by supervising services and selecting cost effective doctors and hospitals The network has grown from 2 000 to over 25 000 members since 1983 Akron General Medical Center also joined Emerald and broader coverage is being extended to Lorain County employees and unions The program includes cost saving reviews pre admission testing and all outpatient services with member hospitals including Fairview General Southwest General Medina Community Parma Euclid Garfield Heights and Mayfield Heights The affiliation is expected to be announced Monday
