Flu surge hits Elyria area with hospital and school impact
Elyria doctors report a large flu and flu like illness surge across the county. St Joseph Hospital Lorain says half its outpatient load is flu related with over 150 January cases. Elyria Memorial Emergency Center saw 80 cases and expects 100 plus this week. The Philippine Type A virus is blamed with warnings for elderly and chronically ill patients.

Nordson to sell AMPAK plant and HQ in Anderson South Carolina
Nordson Corp ends efforts to sell its AMPAK division as a whole and agrees to sell the 180,000 square foot plant and headquarters in Anderson to Robert Bosch Corp. Accused molester faces hearing date in Lorain court
John F. Longshaw, 38, of 101 Tedman Court, was arraigned on kidnapping and gross sexual imposition charges. He will have a preliminary hearing next Tuesday in municipal court and is jailed in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
