Sunflower crop yields big returns for farmers
North Dakota and Minnesota growers see bumper sunflowers exported to Europe for oil and margarine. Prices vary with crop size, 2000 plus pounds per acre, and new markets in Duluth and Minneapolis fuel tests. North Dakota acreage rose to 1.2 million this year, Minnesota to 460,000, with Kansas and South Dakota also growing sunflowers.
