Sheffield trustees oppose annexation of shopping center to Lorain

Sheffield Township trustees issued a two part protest over annexing 367 acres in Sheffield and 25.5 acres in Elyria to Lorain. They argue petition agent Curtis Nelson, a Lorain resident since March, cannot represent petitioners and warn the center’s tax income would suffer if tied to Lorain. Trustees Balogh Chonko and Monos cite forged petition names as previously raised by the Sheffield Civic Center. Lorain County Commissioners have not acted pending clerk certifications from involved townships.
