Elyria Native Awarded Bronze Medal Posthumously
Sgt. Barry T. Reinhardt, a native of Elyria, was posthumously awarded the Bronze Medal for heroism in combat on March 21 in Vietnam. He served as a scout observer with the First Battalion Sixth Infantry and was killed May 5. He remained in the woodline to cover his platoon’s withdrawal amid extreme enemy fire and is buried in Ridge Hill Memorial Park beside his father.
