Lorain Likely Site Battle for Civic Center Location
Lorain planners prefer a bounded downtown site near West Erie Avenue Broadway Fourth Street and Wickens Place with a near 1.25 million purchase cap. Bulzami and three other councilmen back an alternate West Erie site costing about 685000. Sealed petitions by December 26 may force a referendum to approve the chosen site, potentially rescinding the 3.4 acre ordinance. The airport site is cited as flat and accessible with ample government offices and parking.

Oberlin council debates city spending and wiring issues
Oberlin city officials clash over 1968 and 1989 budget items. City auditor Albert Plotner alleges unvetted hires and unauthorized $5,000 building spending. Council approved only $3,000 for fire bay and rented space repairs, while total projects exceeded $4,000. Wiring contracts also topped $4,000 as City Manager cites emergency needs. Revenue from the 1 percent income tax rose from $160,000–$189,000 to an estimated $220,000. Council plans a budget work session on Jan. 6.
